The majority of our clients are part of national programmes that the OEM for that country has rolled out. As part of this programme, one of the key benefits for dealerships is that our Digital Content Managers (DCMs) work directly with the OEM to source OEM-specific content for that country. However, it’s one thing to source this content, but it’s an even bigger challenge to implement and manage this content across a network of dealership websites.
Streamlining OEM content across dealership websites
National content management tools:
This is where our advanced content management tools come into play. We are able to publish “national” OEM content to all dealerships via a simple User Interface (UI) that does not require edits to be made at an individual dealership website level. Our advanced publishing tools take care of the work, removing the margin for human error and also freeing up DCM time to produce content rather than publish it hundreds of times.
If the content needs to be changed then that’s no problem. The DCM can log in and view the published content on a single view in the CMS, make the change, and re-publish this to all dealer websites. This saves time and eliminates the need for manual edits.
All content can be date-controlled, allowing us to publish time-sensitive content to all dealership websites that will automatically go live and expire on a pre-defined date.
Can a dealer change this content?
It depends on what the OEM wants. At Geronimo, we understand the value of consistent OEM content and messaging across retail websites. However, we also have to balance this with customised dealer content. Google does not want to see too much duplicate content across multiple websites, as it will penalise that website’s page in the Google Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).
To balance the need for consistency and customisation we also have the option to clone content. Cloned content works similarly to our publishing tools, however the dealership can subsequently edit it. This allows dealerships to tweak and edit the content to suit their business, while still maintaining the OEM's core messaging and consistency.
